Ernest Jeremiah earned the early lead for Persipura with his goal in the sixth minute but Sriwijaya FC equalised with a goal from the penalty spot executed by Keith Kayamba Gumbs in the 73rd minute. The match was forced into extra time after being level at 1-1, but both clubs failed to hit the net in the next 30 minutes to send the final in a penalty shootout.Sriwijaya FC keeper Ferry Rotinsulu was already a hero when the club defeated Pelita Jaya Purwakarta in penalties to reach the final.Once again Rotinsulu became the hero as he blocked two of Persipura’s first shots taken by captain Eduard Ivakdalam and David Da Rocha.Gumbs and Zah Rahan Krangar were both successful with their execution for Sriwijaya FC before Tony Sucipto had his shot blocked. Persipura, top of the Eastern Conference, again failed to hit the target when their third penalty taker, Alberto Goncalves da Costa, kicked the ball over the crossbar.And finally Anorue Obiora Richad sealed the victory for Sriwijaya FC as he drilled his shot into the back of Jendri Pitoy’s net.
