James Hopes of Australia turned out to be the highest paid player in the second IPL

auction in Mumbai on Tuesday which lacked all the hoopla of the first auction last month.

Hopes was bought over by Jaipur for Rs 1.2 crore, a staggering amount when compared to what the other players were paid.

Pakistan's Misbah-ul-Haq was the first to set off the blocks when he was purchased by Bangalore Royal Challengers. His teamamte Mohammad Yousuf again failed to find any buyers in the second round. IPL may have to pay him his base price of 330,000 dollars in any case. Two more players from Pakistan, Salmaan Butt and Mohammad Hafeez found their way to Shah Rukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders.

Mohammad Ashraful of Bangladesh was another player who did not find any takers but his teammate Abdur Razzak was bought over by Bangalore.

Dimitri Mascerenhas of England was purchased by Jaipur though there was no English player on the list. The English County season will clash with the IPL matches but his County Hampshire said it will issue him a no-objection certificate.

Soth Africans Ashwell Prince and Mornie Morkel were bought over by Mumbai and Jaipur respectively.

Besides the international cricketers, the day belonged to the under-19 cricketers who were on a high after their World Cup triumph. Captain Virat Kohli went to Bangalore along with teammate Shreevats Goswami while fast bowler Pradeep Sangwan stepped into Delhi.

Jaipur recruited Taruwar Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja from the under-19 team while Kolkata will have the services of Siddhart Kaul and Iqbal Abdulla.
